Crusader Comments – October 28-November 4

Hello fellow Crusaders!

I look forward to seeing each of you at our 9th annual Fall Festival Friday, November 4 from 5-7pm for a time of fun, food and fellowship. There will be bouncy houses, food, etc.  Remember to fill out your Fall Festival flyer that came home last week. This is a fundraiser event for our PTF.

* Grandparents’ Day is Friday morning October 28 at 8:30 in the sanctuary for those with a grandchild in K4-6th grade and at 9:30 in the classroom for those with a grandchild in K2 or K3. Please visit our book fair in the cafeteria after your classroom visit. Pick up grandchildren in their classroom.
* Early Dismissal on Friday, October 28. Those students in K2-6th grade that do not leave with a grandparent/parent will be dismissed at 11:40. Grades 7-12 will be dismissed at 11:55. After School is available from 12-5:30. Please send a lunch, snack and drink if using this service for the day.
* Please be looking this weekend for an important letter from Pastor Jamie St. Ours, president of ECS and lead pastor of EBC. It was mailed to each ECS student’s home on Thursday, October 27.
* United Way is holding its 9th annual Coats, Hoodies, Hats and Gloves for Kids drive. A collection box is located next to the school office and will be available until November 18. Please donate new or gently used items. This is a great opportunity to give back to our local community by helping others in need.
* During the week we will text out information on how our Volleyball team and Soccer team did at the SCACS state tournament on October 28 & 29.
* Support a senior as they raise money for their Senior Class Missions Trip to Costa Rica in May of 2023.  Our seniors are selling Butter Braids. Go to the end of this document and click on the QR code to order pastries and support our senior class. The last day to order is Tuesday, November 1. Once you click on the QR code, then click on the seniors name you want to support. Once you click on the seniors name it will direct to the Butter Braid order website. Choose your items, pay for your items and the senior you selected will deliver your items to you on Wednesday, November 16.
* Little Crusader Soccer starts Tuesday, November 1. It will be on Mondays and Tuesdays this year from 2:45-4:30. Any students not picked up by 4:35 will be placed into after school care and charged the daily rate of $15.
* The Fall Book Fair is over. Thank you to everyone who supported the cause of reading by purchasing items at the book fair and a special thank you to all of our grandparents.
* Athletic Awards will be Thursday, November 3 at 7pm in the sanctuary for those students who participated in Cross Country, Soccer, or Volleyball this Fall.
* On Saturday, November 5, remember to turn your clocks back one hour before going to bed.
* Basketball practices for students in grades 6-12 are starting up and the season is almost underway.  The first game is November 14.

* THE VERSE OF THE WEEK COMES FROM: Luke 9:23 “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
* EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE FOR THE WEEK: Discipleship – (Luke 9:23) We teach that following Christ is the goal for life and our desire is to train students that will live out the victorious Christian life.

ECS PHILOSOPHY (p. 6 in the handbook) – “Emmanuel Christian School is an academic institution, founded for the purpose of educating students from a Christian worldview and committed to
maintaining and delivering a strong academic program.”

Crusader Comments are delivered electronically through email usually on Thursday afternoons and deal with important information and upcoming events for the next week of school. You will receive a text to remind you to review it as you are making your plans for the upcoming week.
